Evan, a gay teen artist, is forced by his wrestling coach father to join the team under captain Kane — a tough kid from a broken home who needs the tournament prize to escape poverty. Hostility turns to attraction through brutal practices and intimate moments. When Kane's girlfriend Linda catches them kissing, she threatens to expose them; Evan and Kane fight back by revealing her exam cheating. But under pressure from his alcoholic mother, Kane steals Evan's father's watch. He wins the tournament — then is arrested. Devastated, Evan breaks it off. A week later, Kane is released, his mother sober. He races to the bus station as Evan leaves for an art program. "Liking you was never a mistake." They kiss on the platform and step onto the bus together, hand in hand.
